Settlers Ridge Subdivision was planned and constructed by Kimball Hill Homes starting in 2005. This ambitious community was designed to include a total of 2,470 homes encompassing over 1300 acres with around 780 acres occupied by homesites and another 520 acres of open space. Planning and development for Settlers Ridge took nearly 5 years and incorporated many modern land-use elements such as wetlands preservation, natural prairies and using the contours of the land in site layout. This mixed-use development was designed around the concepts of early 19th century communities with homes located around a central square. Settlers Ridge Subdivision was designed to make each home feel like a part of the community – not isolated from it. Also, many of the homes in Settlers Ridge feature garages that are accessed from rear alleys. This is intended to keep the front face of the home clean and allow for design elements such as wide, full-front porches. Settlers Ridge homes incorporate classical design elements from Colonial, Italiante and Victorian architecture. To date, around 112 homes of the 960-home first phase have been constructed. Although new construction in Settlers Ridge is not currently occuring, there are a selection of great resale homes available.
